Hotel Review: Westley Calgary Downtown, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Cost: C $368.32 for 2 nights
As a couple always on the lookout for exciting weekend escapes, we recently jetted off from Vancouver to Calgary for a quick romantic getaway. Our destination? The Westley Calgary Downtown, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton. This boutique hotel promised a perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience – ideal for our short but sweet adventure.
Location
Located in the heart of downtown Calgary, The Westley’s prime location immediately caught our attention. Situated on 4th Avenue SW, we found ourselves within easy walking distance of many of Calgary’s attractions. The iconic Calgary Tower was just a stone’s throw away, and the vibrant Stephen Avenue Walk, with its array of shops and restaurants, was perfect for our evening strolls.
Check-In
As Hilton Diamond members, we were thrilled to experience the perks that came with our status. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and offered a complimentary upgrade to a spacious corner room with stunning city views. The personal touch of welcome amenities – a bottle of local craft beer and artisanal chocolates – waiting in our room was a delightful surprise that set the tone for our romantic weekend.
Room
Our room was a haven of modern comfort. The king-sized bed was incredibly plush, promising (and delivering) restful nights. The decor struck a perfect balance between contemporary chic and cozy warmth, with thoughtful touches like locally inspired artwork that gave us a sense of place. The bathroom, with its rainforest shower and luxurious toiletries, felt like a mini-spa retreat.
Dining
One of the highlights of our stay was dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Fonda Fora. This Mexican-inspired eatery surpassed our expectations with its innovative take on traditional dishes. For breakfast, our Diamond status granted us daily breakfast voucher for $15 per person, which we enjoyed in the chic setting of Fonda Fora. The fresh, locally sourced ingredients and barista-quality coffee were the perfect start to our days of exploration.
Fitness Centre
The Westley’s fitness center, though compact, was well-equipped and allowed us to maintain our workout routine. We appreciated the 24/7 access, fitting in quick sessions before heading out for the day. However with the short visit and filled itinerary, we were unable to use the fitness center.
Parking
We did rent a car for the stay and decided to park at a nearby parking lot instead of the hotel parking. If you do decide to park at the hotel, it does cost $40 a night. There are many nearby lots that are a fraction of the price and that is exactly what we did.
Conclusion
Throughout our stay, the staff’s attentiveness stood out. From the front desk to the restaurant, everyone seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we had a memorable experience. They were quick with recommendations for local attractions and even helped us secure last-minute reservations at a popular nearby restaurant.
Our weekend at The Westley flew by all too quickly. As we checked out, already planning our return, we reflected on how this boutique hotel had provided the perfect backdrop for our romantic getaway. The combination of its central location, comfortable accommodations, excellent dining, and the perks of our Hilton Diamond status made for an unforgettable couples’ retreat.
For couples looking for a quick escape from Vancouver, we wholeheartedly recommend The Westley Calgary Downtown. It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination in itself, offering a blend of luxury, comfort, and local flavor that turns a simple weekend away into a romantic adventure.
