During our two and a half weeks in Da Nang, we split our accommodation between a few different stays — including two extraordinary nights at the InterContinental Sun Peninsula Resort up on the peninsula. But for our main base in the city, the place we kept coming back to and where we spent three nights, was the Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang.
And honestly? It delivered everything we needed from a city hotel — and then some.
Location: The Hilton’s Biggest Selling Point
The Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang sits right on the Han River waterfront, just steps from My Khe Beach and within easy walking distance of Da Nang’s best restaurants, cafes, and city attractions. For a city as walkable and food-rich as Da Nang, location is everything — and the Hilton nails it.
During our three nights here we walked to dinner every evening, strolled to the beach every morning, and never once needed to call a Grab just to get somewhere to eat. In a city where the local food scene is one of the main draws, being able to step out the front door and reach a dozen excellent restaurants within five minutes is genuinely priceless.
The Han River is right there too — evening walks along the riverfront, the Dragon Bridge lit up on weekends, the gentle hum of Da Nang city life unfolding around you. It’s a hotel that puts you in the middle of the city rather than isolating you from it, which for us is exactly the right call.
The Room: Spacious, Modern, and Those Views
We woke up to ocean views every single morning of our stay, and it never got old.
The Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang’s rooms are spacious, modern, and well-appointed — a significant step up from the functional-but-basic guesthouses that make up most of a long-term travel budget. Clean lines, quality bedding, a proper work desk, and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the South China Sea like a living painting.
Waking up, making a coffee, and sitting with that view before the day begins is the kind of simple luxury that quietly becomes the highlight of a hotel stay. After weeks of moving fast across northern Vietnam — buses, boats, mountain treks — having a beautiful, calm space to come back to each evening felt restorative in the best way.
The bathrooms were equally well done — large, clean, modern, with good water pressure. Nothing that sounds exciting to write about but everything that matters when you’re actually staying somewhere.
The Staff: Genuinely Helpful
One of the things that distinguishes a good hotel from a great one is the quality of its people, and the Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang staff were consistently excellent throughout our stay.
Helpful, warm, and proactive without being intrusive — the kind of service where someone anticipates what you might need rather than waiting to be asked. Restaurant recommendations, transport arrangements, local tips — every interaction left us feeling looked after rather than processed.
For travellers navigating a new city, having knowledgeable hotel staff you can actually talk to is more valuable than most amenities. The team at the Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang understood that.
Beach Access and Surroundings
The beach is essentially on the hotel’s doorstep. My Khe Beach — Da Nang’s long, clean, and relatively uncrowded stretch of coastline — is a short walk from the Hilton’s entrance, making it genuinely easy to fit a morning swim or an evening sunset walk into any day without it feeling like a production.
This matters more than it sounds. In a lot of beach cities, hotels marketed as “beachfront” involve a longer walk than advertised, a busy road to cross, or a beach that feels more like a construction site than a destination. The Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang delivers on the promise — beach access is real, easy, and enjoyable.
Food and Restaurants: Spoilt for Choice
One of the genuine advantages of the Hilton’s central location is the sheer density of good eating options within walking distance. Da Nang has an outstanding food scene — com ga, banh xeo, fresh seafood, Vietnamese coffee, international options — and the Hilton puts you right in the middle of it.
We ate out almost every meal, exploring a different part of the neighbourhood each time, and never had a bad experience. The mix of local Vietnamese spots and more international restaurants within easy walking distance made every evening feel like a small adventure.
The hotel’s own dining options are solid for convenience — good for breakfast or a meal when you don’t want to venture out — but the real draw is what’s just outside the door.
Is the Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang Worth the Cash Rate?
We paid cash for this stay — no points, no special deal — and we left feeling it was genuinely good value for what we received.
Da Nang sits in a sweet spot where your money goes further than in many comparable Southeast Asian cities. The Hilton here offers a level of comfort, location, and service that would cost significantly more in Bangkok, Singapore, or Bali. For a three-night stay with ocean views, helpful staff, a great location, and spacious modern rooms, the value proposition is strong.
That said, if you’re an IHG or Hilton Honors member with points to burn, this is a solid redemption option — particularly if you’re combining it with something more extravagant like the InterContinental Sun Peninsula for a night or two. The contrast between the two properties — one a city hotel perfectly positioned for urban exploration, the other a remote jungle resort — made for a really satisfying Da Nang accommodation strategy overall.

Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang vs InterContinental Sun Peninsula: Which Should You Choose?
We stayed at both during our time in Da Nang, so we’re well placed to compare:
Choose the Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang if you want to be in the city, walking distance to restaurants and the beach, with easy access to everything Da Nang offers. It’s the better base for exploring, eating out, and living like a local. Great for longer stays, digital nomads, or anyone who doesn’t want to feel isolated from the city.
Choose the InterContinental Sun Peninsula if you want a pure luxury resort escape — stunning architecture, private beach, jungle setting, wildlife, and the feeling of being completely removed from the world for a night or two. Worth every point for a special occasion stay but less practical as a daily base.
Our recommendation: Do both. Spend your main nights at the Hilton for the location and value, then treat yourself to one or two nights at the InterContinental Sun Peninsula for the experience. That combination gave us the best of everything Da Nang has to offer.
